Innisbrook “Be A SUPERHERO” Fundraiser – due 10/17

Innisbrook 5th grade fundraiser

The Innisbrook SUPER HERO Fundraiser is officially CLOSED! We grossed $12,300 in sales…WHOO HOO!  Up 10% from year’s sales! We will get back 40%-50% of the gross sales!

Governance Council – Parent Member 9/25

The Governance Council is a group of parents, teachers and staff members that determine how the block grant will be budgeted to address the instructional needs of the students. If there is a decision to be made about a new teacher or principal, council members can be present at the interviews. In addition, we approve all calendars, or instructional schedules that are submitted to the district. We also listen to any concerns from parents or school personnel. It is a monthly meeting and it is not a stressful committee.

If you desire to be an elected member of the Governance Council, you need to write a paragraph explaining why you wish to participate in the council. The paragraph does not have to be very long but it is required by our bylaws. The bylaws and petition are posted on our school website. When you get elected you can choose to be on the council for 1 or 2 years. If you get elected you have a right to vote. All members must attend at least 6 out of the 9 meetings. Should they exceed more than 3 absences, they will be voted off of the committee and the alternate will take their place on the committee.

In addition, we have 6 committees that report to our governance council. These committees also need parents to participate. These are not elected positions and do not require that the parents go consistently. The committees are as follows; The budget committee, the personnel committee, the grant writing and technology committee, the curriculum development and review, the facilities school safety and climate committee, and the school calendar, special events and community involvement committee. These committees will meet 4 to 5 times per year.

Our first Governance Council meeting of the year will take place on September 30, 2014 at 1:45pm.   All stakeholders are welcome.  If you wish to speak before the board, please send an email and state the nature of your concern and/or announcement.  The new members will begin in October.
